Health and Wellbeing Centre

Westonbirt has an onsite Health and Well-being centre available to treat pupils and staff. It is operational 24 hours a day during the school week by a highly competent and dedicated health care team of two nurses, with a visiting GP (school doctor), physiotherapist, a counsellor and other health care professionals on call or locally placed.

The centre has six beds which allows poorly pupils to be accommodated in comfortable surroundings and to be looked after by professional staff away from their boarding houses for short periods of time. Health and Well-being staff always communicate as necessary with parents if their child is unwell.

It has regular surgery times four times a day when pupils can see the nurse and is always open for emergencies. There is always a nurse on call for sporting fixtures.

Our school Doctor, Dr. Katharina Nehrig from Romney House Surgery in Tetbury, provides a weekly surgery on a Monday and is available on call at all times. Appointments are made through the Health and Well-being centre. Dentist, Orthodontist or Optician appointments can also be arranged.

School policy is for all new boarding pupils to have a medical with the Health and Well-being centre in their first weeks of term in order to check and monitor their physical health and well-being whilst at school.
