Photography

what's in this section

Photography is a creative and practical course which combines technical aspects of photographic image making with the aesthetic qualities of images. Students can develop their practical skills to express ideas through the media of photography and will learn to critique other photographers’ work as well as to develop and realise their own art. We will look at alternative processes such as cyanotype, solar-prints and salt prints and make a simple pinhole camera.

Lessons will contain analysis of composition and research and the development of ideas. Practical lessons will take place in the darkroom and the classroom which is equipped with iMac computers.

Photography combines well with many creative and technical subjects. Typical combinations could be Art, Media Studies, History, Geography or English Literature and Drama

The AQA specification consists of two components at AS & A2. If students are entered for the A Level, the first year is non-examined.
