I think the ‘family’ atmosphere that is created is wonderful.
Nursery plays an active and valued role in many of the wider school events such as the swimming gala, sports day, the Harvest Festival and the Nativity play, exposing them to the enriching and rewarding experiences of Westonbirt from the start. The children also make the most of the beautiful outdoor space available to us.
For some children, the transition to starting school can be daunting, so a lot of time is spent with the Reception Class to graduate this move. In the summer term, a series of ‘moving up’ sessions are held where children gradually get to know their new teachers and the classroom.
Children in Nursery can attend for a minimum of four half-day sessions per week. Local Authority Early Education Funding is accepted for 15 hours per week of free Nursery provision, for children who are aged 3 and 4.
Taster sessions are offered on all days at a time that suits you, or please join us at our next Open Morning to see our Nursery in action. This is an excellent opportunity to talk to the dedicated staff about our ethos and educational provision and discuss how our flexible morning and afternoon sessions can best meet your needs.
Westonbirt has dedicated Learning Support and EAL Departments, both of which enhance the learning with individualised learning plans for each student as required. Our success with many of our students supported in these areas is significant with a vast number securing exceptional results. The departments pride themselves on a professional and personal, inclusive approach.
At Westonbirt Prep School we cater for a wide range of Special Educational Needs. If your child requires Learning Support, our specialist and highly qualified team will guide you through the process of accessing additional support which could include strategies such as: one-to-one specialist teaching; group sessions; in-class support; individualised learning plans; or links with external support agencies.
This intervention will be arranged according to your child's specific needs and in accordance with any specialist reports that they already have upon joining, informal assessment by our teachers and/or learning support staff and recommended specialist assessments carried out during their time with us, a range of which can be done here at school or supported in their organisation. The provision is evaluated regularly in communication with parents, teachers, pupils and any external agencies to ensure its ongoing effectiveness in providing each child with the best educational provision.
