On Saturday we had an exceptionally successful day with 6 girls out competing for the school at the NSEA qualifier at West Wilts Equestrian Centre. It was an extremely busy day with class clashes, very changeable weather and not much event organization. The girls made a fantastic team and the team spirit was a credit to the school. The team consisted of Hannah Luddington, Ariella White, Ava Bremner, Amelia James, Isny O’Donnell and Maddie Perry. It was a joy to see the girls from year 7 up to the sixth form supporting each other.
Hannah kicked off the day as an individual with a lovely clear indoors in the 70 Arena eventing but they were just 4 seconds outside the time; next up were Ariella, Ava and Hannah outdoors in the 80/85 Arena Eventing team. Ariella first to jump after the course walk produced a super clear, followed by Ava who also jumped a lovely round, although she was given 4 faults as a pole came down, very annoyingly a long while after she had jumped it – we were all convinced the wind took it; Hannah came next and jumped another super clear. With nearly 100 in the class, they were not in the rosettes and were placed 12th as a team.
Isny and Amelia then took on a very tricky 90/95 eventers challenge course with Isny on Jackson jumping well and Amelia jumping a super clear to be placed 8th as an individual in another class of nearly 100!
A team of Maddie, Isny , Amelia and Ava finished a fantastic 7th in the 105cm team Show Jumping with 2 fabulous clears from Ava and Isny and just 4 faults for Amelia and Maddie.
A wonderful result in the 100 cm Arena Eventing with 3 clears from Amelia, Maddie and Isny – with the only team to produce 3 clears they WON the class qualifying for Hickstead Champs in May half term. This is such a fantastic achievement.
Isny had just 4 faults in the last class of the day 1.10 – it had become so late, the class had to be switched indoors!
In other non NSEA Equestrian news Amelia James had 2 dressage wins this week at West Wilts with her new horse Jennie; Maddie Perry has been competing British Showjumping and was placed and qualified for the Blue Chip Championships at Hartpury. She also did dressage at Summerhouse and won the junior section of her class. Hannah and Ariella have both recently qualified for Sunshine Tour at Hickstead in September Arena Eventing, with Hannah winning her 70 and 80 class, and Ariella winning her 80 and being second in her 90 class. Annalisa Owers was also back out competing on Comet and finished 2nd at a winter One Day event over the weekend.
All round fantastic results, proving hard work pays off!
Huge thanks again to Jo Hansford Photography, our Equestrian Team sponsor, and looking forward to some warmer weather and longer days to train and compete in!
