This morning, the whole Westonbirt community gathered together for a moving service of remembrance.
Marking 100 years of the end of the First World War, departments came together to illustrate how members of the Westonbirt community have been personally touched by the war in their own families and to create handmade poppies. The History department organised framed maps on which staff and students placed flags to remember loved ones lost in their families to the First World War. Over 400 knitted poppies were on display that had been handmade by Westonbirt staff, students, parents and grandparents.
Students from Westonbirt Prep choir performed 'Pacem (A Song of Peace) by Andy Beck and Brian Fisher and the senior school performed a wonderfully emotive dance whilst the Chamber Choir sang 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae and Sharon Durrant, led by Director of Music, Mrs Atwell. The Revd Stephen JH Dunwoody CF, Senior Chaplain London District and Chaplain to the Household Division offered a poignant reflection.
