Well what a weekend for our fabulous Westonbirt Equestrian Team last week! Our team of four riders entered the National Schools Equestrian Association County Show Jumping Championships at Bury Farm, Buckinghamshire.
Jumping in the 90cm Class, having won the county qualifier at West Wilts, Westonbirt was now representing Gloucestershire County at the Championships. The team did a superb job and out of 29 Teams from all over England they finished a very respectable 5th earning our team the title of being 5th best in England which is a amazing achievement!
Competitor Jasmin had her pony Frankie in the 1.10 at the end of the day riding as an individual for Gloucestershire County and finished 6th for Gloucestershire. Another outstanding result against fierce competition with the top ponies in the counties competing.
Two of the riders also got placed in the warm up competition on Saturday, Amelia riding George came 8th out of 42 riders in the 90cms and Jasmin was 8th in the 1 metre on Frankie out of 22 riders.
The team consisted of Amelia riding George; Marina riding Lochie; Amelia riding Marley and Jasmin riding Millie.
Also, competing for the first time for the Westonbirt team, was Lottie who took part a little closer to home at West Wilts, Melksham. Lottie put in an impressive first performance coming in 11th in the 90cm event and then went on to reach 3rd in the 1 metre event.
Congratulations to all the girls (& ponies!) and to our team manager Helen who puts in so much work to achieve these outstanding results.
